Progress Report--April 9, 2011

Maddox had some struggles today as there was a constant battle to keep his saturation levels stable.  He had a lot going on today.  First, his breathing tube migrated up just a bit so it had to be moved back down. Second, a tube that had been placed in his stomach to act as a drain following one of his surgeries was removed.  Also, while on ECMO and a few days after, he had to remain essentially in the same position.  After 16 days they were finally able to adjust his position.  As expected he did not like this. These different adjustments made him very irritable thus making it difficult for his numbers to remain stable.  Overall though, he is about the same as before.  They are trying to wean him off some of the oxygen support that he is on although not much progress was made today.  We continue to take it a day at a time and the doctors continue to move at the pace that Maddox sets.  He is the boss.  He did enjoy the visit of family and friends that traveled from Florida, Dallas, Grand Prairie and Corsicana.  Tonight he finally calmed down with the help of his new friend.

    Amazing story...
Is worth remembering whenever it is safe to move him. Unborn babies are accustomed to continual contact. Many years ago in one baby room it was noticed that any baby placed in a particular location prospered better than the rest. It took a lookout to find out why. The night cleanup lady always picked up whatever baby was nearest to the door coddle it and talk to it and put it back before she left. The results were noticed by the staff the next day.

  2. Prayers to our Grand God Jehovah are being said today for you and your baby. We do not know Maddox but we love him just the same....he is our brother and nephew and we long to hold him in our arms and watch him run around with the children we hope to have in the new system. We pray that God gives you the strenght to endure this most painful and difficult situation. We also pray that Maddox will miraculously turn around and get well. May you know our hearts are with you; our prayers are with you; tears you shed we shed with you; pain you feel, we feel with you! We will be sending you some money next week. It will not be much but might help with your expenses.

  3. Dear Tawa and Jenny,

You both are faced with an unthinkable trial...seeing your child suffer and not being able to do anything about it. I cannot imagine what that would be like as parent to endure that…minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.
But yet, you both have shown unbelievable courage and strength. Your optimism as parents shows that you truly believe that Jehovah is with us and gives us the strength we need to endure. You have set the bar high for anyone who is suffering through something like this and I can only hope to have ½ of your courage and optimism in the face of extreme trials I may face along the way. I wish I could be there for you at this moment to help comfort you…but I have come to realize that the greatest source of comfort is Jehovah because he can give you the peace and hope you need to get through something like this, that no human can. He is the only one that can promise Maddox a bright future in the new system of things soon to come...and what a grand prospect that is. Your faith has truly manifested itself through this agonizing time in your life.

Jenny, my sister and very dear friend…you have been the best Mommy to Maddox!!! I have learned so much from your courage, love, patience and strength...you are truly a remarkable women! Thank you for taking the time to update us while you were dealing with such a traumatic event. You have given me so much inspiration to face my challenges with courage and strength!!!

Both of you have proven that you can, with Jehovah, endure with the hope of something better to come...and may Jehovah's loving hands be laid upon you both and may he comfort you!

2 Cor 1:3 - " Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God".

    Love to you both!

  5. The prayers and love of the Webb family will be with you now and in the future. Your example of faith through trial touches our hearts. May the love and strength you draw from our Great God Jehovah sustain you. We look forward when the fulfillment of all His promises are realized, as capsulized in Revelation 21:3,4. May you be strengthened by Holy Spirit from above and all the love the friends here below can muster.

My heart is breaking to hear that Maddox grew his wings last night. I can't stop crying, for Maddox is such a warrior. He was blessed with two amazing parents that gave him such strength through his journey on this earth. May your love for your little boy carry you through the days to come. I hope you are surrounded by much love and comfort from your family and friends. I am here for you if you need anything.

    Much love to you, (((HUGS)))
